Ringtones for land lines
This one makes so much sense, I
can't believe AT&T didn't do it earlier.
Seeing how much money everyone's making on cellular ring tones, AT&T is going to
make it possible for you to change the ring on your good old-fashioned, Fred
Flintstone-looking, land line-using house phone.
That's right. Go ahead and trick up grandma's ring-a-ling with a little Perry
Como sample.
The new service, called AT&T Answer Tones, debuted Thursday as a trial run right
here in San Francisco and over in Indianapolis. It costs 99 cents per month for
a subscription, then you pay $1.99 for each ringtone.
You can choose between music, comedy, movie or TV clips, and celebrity sound
bites. (You can't handle the truth!)
For you football fanatics, you can program your favorite college fight song to
go off every time someone calls. Bet your spouse will love that. |
