Mobile phones attract leopards
By Nick Farrell
NEVER MIND the dangers of cancer,
a mobile phone ring tone can attract 60 kg worth of pussy cat which might be
hungry.
In India ring tones are being used to attract leopards which may have wandered
into human settlements looking for light refreshment.
Apparently the spotted big cats are not so much interested in whether the person
has a Nokia, or a iPhone as to what noise the machine makes.
Forest guards in western India have found that ring tones that sound like
chickens, cows mooing or goats bleating are proving a safe method of luring the
cats away. In the old days they had to use live goats tethered to a stick, now
all it takes is just a park warden with nerves of steel and an extremely
persistent caller.
Of course if you have a ring tone with Girls Aloud, or Craig David you have to
be extremely careful that the spotted moggie does not have your arm off at the
elbow. Still it is worthwhile knowing that some day that idiot on the St Pancras
to Nottingham train with the Lady in Red ringtone just might get eaten.
